World Mind Network

Celebrating Humanity with live streaming video

I like the site, but what do live webcams have to do with this 'World Brain' concept?

Dear Ralph,

Good Question!
Each brain has billions of neurons. Each neuron is unique in at least two ways-- its position, and its connections. Because of the exquisite order the brain has achieved over millions of years, it's able to prioritize tasks and accomplish different chores in an amazingly efficient manner.
Each human being is also unique in both position, and connections. The internet is tightening and amplifying those connections in ways we're only beginning to understand. For example, MySpace is a social network; Ning is a network OF social networks. With each such step forward in integration, humanity starts to gain more of the efficiency of the brain. So it might help to symbolically think of ourselves in this way.
Here's an example: Let's say that you're outside, and it's getting hot. You decide to go inside to cool off.
What happened was that your brain received signals from nerve endings registering excess heat, processed them, and sent messages to other motor nerves to direct muscles to haul your body indoors.
How does the Earth as a whole deal with a similar problem? SOME people think it's too hot (Global Warming). And SOME people do something about it, but there's not much worldwide co-ordination.
How would this be different if everyone saw themselves as an individual brain cell in a unitary World-Mind?
Well, right now our site WorldMindNetwork.net, shows a live webcam in Antarctica, where you can actually see more and more ice melt month by month. It shows live killer whales in the Shamu webcam, which you can see above this forum. And it shows things like a wind Farm in Finland, whose site also lets you calculate online the power output of the wind turbines.
What if EVERYONE on the planet watched these webcams, and many more such, every day? There would be much more agreement as to the existence of Climate change, the effects of it, and possible solutions. Each person would have access to the same information, just as each neuron in your brain does. The gain in efficency, in both understanding and action, would be tremendous. The truth is right there, in live video! And they would be entertained at the same time!
That's what we mean by the World Mind.
