The Chinese say a picture is worth a thousand words. So how many words is a moving picture with sound worth? Probably millions. And yet webcams have largely been devoted either to porn, or to the trivial (your little sister pulling your brother's hair).

We think that webcams can serve great purposes. Although we're not quite at the point where every human has an individual two-way personal TV station, we've made huge strides in that direction. The potential is there for each person to exchange many times as much content with a myriad of others as has ever been possible in history. Hence the 'World Mind' concept; we often think of each of us as a brain cell which now has the capacity to exchange far more value across billions of synaptic divides than has ever been done, even in the recent past.

Renewable energy projects, sustainable agriculture, conservation efforts
